eyeOS és un entorn d’escriptori web, també conegut Sistema operatiu via web de la generació d’aplicacions de “Cloud Computing”. La diferència més important entre l’eyeOS i altres “sistemes operatius Web” és que eyeOS es pot descarregar en tant que és programari lliure (llicència GPL), i permet a tothom tenir el seu propi servidor d’eyeOS.

eyeOS forma part de la Web 2.0 i combina en una pàgina web HTML, PHP, AJAX i JavaScript. eyeOS permet que hom pugui veure i editar tots els seus arxius i programes des de qualsevol ordinador amb connexió a Internet i un navegador que compleixi els estàndards W3C.

Els principals programadors d’aquest sistema operatiu són Marc Cercós, Alejandro Fiestas, Pau Garcia-Milà, Daniel Gil i Jose Carlos Norte. El projecte va néixer a Olesa de Montserrat (Baix Llobregat) l’agost del 2005.

Zotero és un complement pel navegador de codi lliure Firefox que funciona com un gestor bibliogràfic. És de codi lliure i està en diversos idiomes, tot i que encara no es pot trobar ni en català ni castellà. Les seves principals característiques són:

• Recopila informació d’un ampli ventall de documents i permet modificar i afegir dades.
• Permet fer col·leccions i subcol·leccions.
• Importa dades directament de pàgines web, catàlegs web (Google Scholar, etc).
